Certified translation

"According to section 5 of MT Decree 24/1986 (VI. 26.) of the Council of Ministers On Translation and Interpretation certified translation, translation certification and certified foreign language copy can only be made – unless not otherwise provided by law – by OFFI Zrt (National Office for Translation and Attestation)."

...the exclusive certification right of OFFI extends only to Hungary. (www.magyarorszag.hu)

Certified translation is a translation, where the conformity of the translation with the source document is guaranteed by a certification declaration issued by an authorised organisation. These translations are bound to the original document and stamped with their own seal.

Official translation

Official translation is a translation, where the conformity of the translation with the source document is guaranteed by a declaration issued by a translation agency employing qualified specialist translators. These translations are bound to the original document or to a copy of it and stamped with the company’s stamp.

In Hungary, apart from certain company documents*, OFFI Zrt has an exclusive right to make certified translations, however in the majority of cases an official translation is sufficient >>> This document is used by our office to verify that the original and the translated texts are identical in content and as much as possible in formatting.

*According to current legislation, translations of company documents e.g. (memorandum of association, minutes of meeting, specimen signature, company registration extracts, etc.) can also be certified by translation agencies employing qualified specialist translators.

Please request information prior to placing an order so that we can assess dependent on the intended use of the translation, whether an official translation completed by the translation agency is sufficient. In the majority of cases this is also cheaper and faster than a certified translation by OFFI.
